Kickin’ it Texas Style

Happy Sunday! A quick post (no pictures – doing this from my phone today) and then off to a day of shopping in the rain.

For my 43 today I wanted something I could do in a small amount of space yet still get my heart rate up. I did a front kick to a lunge. I started with my left leg stationary, knee slightly bent. Do a front kick with right leg and at the same time punch forward with left arm. Immediately pull right leg back into lunge position and touch floor with left hand. Continue moving quickly to goal – 43!! Repeat with left leg.

Time to get ready and head to Canton!

43 In The Car

I am on my way to Texas for a weekend of shopping with my sister.  But, I still wanted to do a 43.  I got in some toning work by tightening my butt and stomach muscles and holding them.  As I drove through Kansas, I used the mile markers as my reference.  I tightened the muscles and held for a mile, then released for a mile until I reached my 43.

I am not typing as I drive, I am dictating to my wonderful husband Chris.

See ya in Texas!

Spiders

Not real spiders….the day’s 43!!!  Spider push-ups :Approve:If you have never tried these, you should. I’m pretty sure that you will feel them – my arms are still shaking.

Start in plank (push-up position).  Do a full push-up and then bring your right knee to your right elbow.  Return to push-up position, push-up, then bring your left knee to your left elbow.  Continue till you reach your goal….for me 43!

(I made a demo with Jordan (my 13 year old) but it was really dark and I couldn’t figure out how to change it so he will demonstrate something another time.)

After I collapsed on the ground at the end of the 43, I eventually managed to get myself up and finished my work-out with about 45 minutes of pilates.

This afternoon is Jordan’s last cross country meet of 8th grade. (And, I did manage to get a 9 page newsletter done yesterday!!!)

Happy Fun Friday!!!  Kim

Work Those Hamstrings!

The 43 today is one of my favorite moves! I LOVE dead-lifts!!  Plus, I added in a row so it was a nice combo move to work hamstrings, butt, and back muscles.

I started standing up straight with 15 pound dumbbells in each hand.  Hinge from the waist and, without rounding your back, lower down.  Come up about halfway and perform row – really squeeze shoulder blades together when you draw your elbows in. Lower arms and slowly lift body back to upright, squeezing butt as you come up.

For the rest of my work-out I did Les Mills Pump – Combat DVD.  One of my very favorite work-outs when I only have about 45 minutes.  I also did 2 quick 10 minute walks with a friend.

Now I have to get busy on the newsletter for Hunter’s school.  It has to go home tomorrow and I haven’t started – I still have 12+ hours, plenty of time!!!

5:15 AM?!

Today started very early!!! I’m subbing at Hunter’s school today so I had to get my work-out and 43 before I left.  The good news is, it is only 7:00am and I’ve done my work-out and gotten ready for the day!!  The bad news – I might have lost count during my 43 and done 10 extra – I figured more is always better! 😀

The 43 of the day was a roll-up or get-up.  Start on your back with arms over-head and roll  up.  Pop up onto your feet with a jump then lower  down and roll back to start.

(It is light out only because I had Hunter film my demo yesterday since I knew this morning would be early.  I really did my 43 this morning!!)

If you want to make these more challenging, keep your hands behind your head the entire time.  (Turkish get-ups)

After the 43 I did 2 of my favorites:   Upper 20 and Lower 20 both part of Turbo Fire with Chalean.

6th grade – here I come!!!
