How Do You Manage the Spam?

Today for my 44 I took a move that I’ve done on the floor (plank rolls) and added a stability ball to make it a little more challenging.  A plank roll is just holding plank and rolling your feet so your head goes forward and back.

And for some reason this morning I guess I thought I had reverse aged because I got to 40 and stopped.  Oops – good thing I realized it in time to fix it and do all 44 reps!!

I did one of my 10 Minute Solution DVDs – Ultimate Boot Camp.  By doing all 5 sections it ended up being a good full body workout in under an hour!!

Screen Shot 2014-01-25 at 7.38.54 AMOh, wait – wrong kind of SPAM!!!

Screen Shot 2014-01-25 at 7.40.34 AMDo you ever feel like  Spam is completely out of control?!  The email spam is one thing but thankfully most of it goes right into my junk folder and I never even see it.

However, the SPAM on my blog is Screen Shot 2014-01-25 at 7.42.31 AM

I have Akismet which keeps most of it from ever getting onto the actual site so that’s good.

But, I still have a problem – I try to check it and empty it several times a day but the number of spam messages is easily over 1,000 a day.

Here is my problem – I try to go through because I know every once in awhile a comment that isn’t spam ends up in there and I hate to delete anything that someone legitimately took the time to write.  At the same time I feel like I’m spending a LOT of time going through it every day!!!

How do you deal with spam?  Do you scroll through all of it before you empty it?

Happy Saturday – I’m off to spend the day with a bunch of brides!!!

Am I Old?!

Today’s 44 was for the core – primarily the lower part of the abs.  I did a single leg crunch with a leg extension.

This move is slow and controlled – extend the leg and hold, then crunch in.  Of course, after I finished 44, I had to switch sides and start again!!

For my workout I did one of the 10 Minute Solution DVDs – Ultimate Boot Camp.  I did all 5 sections for a great full-body workout.

Lately I feel like I’m sort of struggling with some of my workouts  for some reason – maybe it is part of the “old” thing!!!

Most days I feel like I’m still in my 20s – well, maybe not but….I don’t feel OLD!!!

However, some days things happen that make me feel old.

The other day I went to a networking luncheon to meet other small business owners.  This guy that I sat next to (he looked about 15!) kept calling me Ma’am.  Really?!  It would be one thing if he really were 15 but he wasn’t – he was a local business man!!

Screen shot 2013-10-20 at 9.12.11 PMI felt old then!!!

Friday evening we took dinner to some friends who just had a baby.  The new mom asked me if I wanted to hold her – – – YES!!!!  While holding this tiny precious baby I realized that I’m closer to grand babies than when my own boys were babies – What????

Screen shot 2013-10-20 at 9.16.07 PMA lot of times when I’m showing our venue to a perspective bride, I realize that I am old enough to be her mom!!

So, I guess I will just keep doing my daily 44s and be happy that even though I might be “old” I can still workout hard and keep up with some 20 year olds!!!

Screen shot 2013-10-20 at 9.18.19 PMAnd – I do remember what it felt like to slam a phone shut after a conversation – so there is that!!!

Do young adults call you Ma’am or Sir?
Do you feel older than your age or younger?

Happy Monday!!!

Abdominal Training Epiphany!!!

My 43 today was nice – it was core work but also a semi-stretch!!!  I used a stability ball to hold plank on my forearms.

From the start position, I just did a plank roll – I rolled forward on the ball (you have to hold your abs in tight here so that they don’t rest on the ball!)

pull the abs in - don't cheat!

and then back on the ball for each rep.

The biggest challenge in this 43 was keeping my balance on the ball while staying in plank.  I tried to keep my body level (feet a little wider helps!).

Today I did a Boot Camp workout for the rest of my workout.  I used one of the 10 Minute Solution DVDs (love these) – Ultimate Boot Camp and did all 5 sections for a really great workout.

If you have never tried any of the 10 Minute Solution DVDs, I highly recommend them.  They are great if you just have 20-30 minutes since you can do a couple of the sections.  I also like them as a complete workout – all 5 sections.

The 5th (and final) section today was Six Pack Ab Attack.  Because I was tired by that point I had to really focus on putting 100% into it.  Then I started thinking about all of my ab/core work.  It is at the end of my workout usually.  I can’t think of a single workout DVD that I’ve done that has ab work at the beginning (or even during the middle) – always the end.

As I struggled (no other word today) through the ab training I decided that I’m going to try mixing up my ab work some and putting it at the beginning of a workout when I’m fresh!  I did a little research about why abdominal work is usually at the end of the workout – the biggest reason seems to be the fact that so many exercises require you to use your core and if you have already trained your abs then you might not be able to perform the exercise safely.

But, I’m still planning to try and change it up some.  I’m always exhausted by the time I really focus on my abs so I want to see if it makes a difference training them first.

not my abs – I WISH!!!

When do you work your abs/core – beginning or end of a workout?

Happy Fun Friday!!!

Kim

Friday = Funday!!!

5 straight days of 5:00 AM alarm – YUCK!!!  But it’s Fun Friday!!!! And, no alarm for the next 2 days!

Today for the 43 I worked my core and my upper back!  I did a Kayaker move:  Position yourself in a V-Sit (legs extended if possible) and hold that for the entire time.  Holding a body bar (mine only weighs about 5 pounds), row – pull the bar toward you and squeeze your shoulder blades then extend your arms and push the bar straight in front of you.

Good Job, Hunter!
Good Job, Hunter!
Hold your abs in!!!

The row wasn’t too bad but holding the V-Sit for the entire time….made it through all 43 even though I was shaking by the end!!!

See - Exercise IS fun!!!
See – Exercise IS fun!!!

This picture is just because those 2 are so very silly!!!  I’m not exactly sure what Jordan was doing in the background of these pictures but Hunter seemed to think it was funny!!!  Look – he is still keeping his legs up while he laughs – double core bonus!!!

After the 43 I did Les Mills Combat – HIIT Plyo.  High intensity for 30 minutes!!!  I really liked this one even though it meant more burpees!!  (I’m not sure why I hate those so much but I keep doing them because I know they are good for me!)

I had a little more time so I pulled out one of my 10 Minute Solution DVDs – Blast Off Belly Fat.  I did 2 sections – Belly Fat Blaster and Ab Ripper.  The first section was all standing core work – awesome!!!  The second one was a mix of standing, crunches and plank work!  I like these little 10 minute programs because they are nonstop for the entire 10!

Today in the library we are doing inventory – every single book will be scanned by the end of the day!!!  Gonna be fun, fun, fun!!!Screen shot 2013-01-11 at 7.18.36 AMSponge Bob – I’m pretty sure that my boys (Chris included) can quote every line of every episode!!!  Awesome, huh?!

A friend had this quote on Facebook and I borrowed it because it is exactly me!!Screen shot 2013-01-11 at 7.04.08 AMThis quote pretty much sums things up – all of the challenges I do are to try and improve myself not to show-off or compete with anyone else.
