Does 8:00 AM Mean 8:45 AM?

I have faults – lots of them!!  But, when it comes to being on time, especially for an  appointment/work, then I think it should be a given that both parties will be on time!!!

This week has been one full of waiting on others and the sad thing is I don’t think any of the  late parties even cared that they were late.

Tuesday morning I had an 8:00 time set up for a company to come to the venue and service the furnaces (all 4 of them!).    Someone from the company finally showed up at 8:45.

When I asked him if I was going to get the first hour free he acted like that would be ridiculous.  On top of being late he didn’t even know what he was there for – Screen Shot 2014-11-20 at 8.19.02 PM

Needless to say, I wasn’t super happy!!!

Wednesday morning I had a root canal at 9:45.  I got there early to do any paperwork and then waited and waited and waited.  At 10:15 they called me back.Screen Shot 2014-11-20 at 8.24.17 PM

Not to worry though – I think he tried to make up the time by not fully numbing me since I felt everything going on the last 20-30 minutes.  I told him it was a good thing I was a runner!!!  (I do understand that it is easy to get behind in the health profession.)

Thursday morning I had an electrician scheduled to come at 10:45 am to go through the apartment that we cleaned last weekend and that I’ve been working on all week.  (We just used this guy about 3 weeks ago – he was 15 minutes late then.)

I called at 11:00 to see if he was still coming – left a voicemail.  At 11:15 I saw his truck pull into the parking lot but he didn’t get out.  I went out and got in my truck – he was eating.  He called me and said “sorry I missed your call – I was running late.  I’m here now.”  I told him that I knew because I saw him sitting eating (35 minutes late by this point) and that I was leaving.  I said that he had been late 2x with no phone call or anything and that I didn’t have time for that type of business

He emailed me later – his version of apologizing I guess – and said he didn’t think that 15-20 minutes really made that much difference.

1.  He was over 30 minutes late.
2.  IT MATTERS!!!!  My time is important, too!!!

In addition to all  of this wasted time this week, we have also had issues with referrals from our primary care Drs office which resulted in wasted time.

I have been waiting on a couple of referrals for about 3 weeks now for my leg.  Tuesday afternoon I got a call from an office to get my information before my appoint Wednesday morning (during the time of my root canal of course!!!).

What appointment?!  So I had to reschedule for a whole week later since no one called me!!!

Chris went to the DR  a couple of weeks ago to have a spot checked out – that required a referral to the dermatologist.  He got a voicemail last week saying – “Your appointment is November 19 at 3:30.”

He went to the appointment Wednesday( November 19).  They had no idea why he was there because his real appointment is December 19.  He listened to the voicemail again – yep she said November.

This referral system is all from our primary care DR.  I called and left a message for the “referral” person to call me – still haven’t heard back.

Do you feel like people just don’t care about being on-time or treating your time like it’s valuable?!

Happy Friday!!!
