Squats – Sissy or Not?

Well, when I did the 43 this morning, I thought it was called one thing but I did more research and I’m not sure now.  Depending on what source you read/watch –  I did 43 sissy squats.

I started with my heels on 2 35 pound dumbbells:

Like wearing heels!!

Then, while holding 25 pound dumbbells, I did a squat.  I still pushed my butt back and kept all of my weight in my heels.

Butt Back!!!

Because I went down on a 2-count, held for a 2-count and came up on a 2-count – these were a challenge.  I did all 43 at a nice steady pace.

When I started looking around, I found this version of the sissy squat:

Ummm…I’m going to stick with my version.

Over the years I’ve done lots of different work-outs and programs and there are many  exercises that have multiple names.  Confusing?!                                                                One exercise that is alway the same?  RUNNING!!!!

Running!

So, with these profound thoughts floating around, I’m going to enjoy my “rest” day.

Happy Sunday!

Rewards

Today was a day when I picked my 43 that I knew it would be hard and I knew that I would have to do 86 because I don’t want to be lopsided!!!

I did a a side crunch that also worked my low back, butt and outer thighs. I think my hips got the most pain out of this move!!!  Start by kneeling on the floor and lean all the way over to your right side, placing right palm on the floor.  Extend left leg to side and put left hand behind head.  Slowly lift left leg to hip height and extend arm above your leg with palm facing forward.  Lower and repeat.  After finally completing  43, I switched sides and started all over!

I know on the video it looks like I just did 3/side – just for demo purposes!!!  After Jordan recorded those I started the actual 43 x 2 – the video would be much too painful if we recorded the whole thing!!

Today was another lifting day – Chalean Extreme Push Circuit 1.  Chalean not only makes the work-out fun, she includes lots of great tips on form, breathing, eating, etc.

This ecard pretty much sums up why I push myself – love breaking barriers and achieving more than I once thought possible – best reward ever!!!

Happy Saturday!!!

Wine Much???

For the 43 today I decided to tackle a move that is my nemesis – the tricep push-up!!!  This move has always been hard for me and no matter how many dips, kick-backs, over-head tricep extensions….I do, it never gets easier.  Today was no different – I did the first 6 on my toes and the rest (37) on my knees.  Even on my knees, it was a struggle to reach 43.

Jordan actually did his age (14) on his toes – show off!!!

The past couple of days every time I have gone downstairs this is what I have seen:

Still sick

Hunter has not been out of his chair (except to go to bed) in 3 days now. Poor boy!!!

Show Off!!!

Jordan jumps up when he hears me on the stairs and starts doing push-ups.  The boys know that I like them to get some activity and not just play electronics all the time so this is Jordan’s way of doing it.  I asked him if he always did push-ups that way – yes, he does.  He had no idea that those are much harder than regular push-ups!!!

Because I may or may not have consumed 2 whole bottles of wine yesterday – over the course of 9 hours (cooking, eating, clean-up, and chilling), I decided that I really needed to push myself today.  Best way to do that – running!!!

I did a pyramid today:  Started at 8:00 min/mile and every 3 minutes increased the speed until I got to 5:00min/mile.  Ran 6min at that pace and then started decreasing the speed every 3 minutes until I was back to 8:00min/mile.  The decrease was nice!!!

Total:  10 miles in 61:00 at 1.5 incline.  Then I did another 2.5 to cool down!

Black Friday Shopping??  If I do any shopping today it will be online!!!

Happy Fun Friday!!!

Happy Thanksgiving, Y’all!!!

Today, the 43 was all cardio because my work-out was lifting.  I used this step again:

14″ double step (the Transfirmer)

I did a step-up with a knee lift and then jumped down, turned around and repeated with the opposite knee lift for one rep.  (I know the descriptions is probably complete gibberish – lucky thing I have another lovely demo!!!!)

After 43 reps my heart rate was definitely up – success!!!

Today I did Chalean Extreme Push Circuit 3 – mostly chest and back + some lower body.  I’m happy to be benching 25 pound dumbbells these days – I know it’s only 50 pounds total but the moves are super slow in this program so it makes it harder than speed lifting!!!

Gotta get in the kitchen and finish the meal prep – all 8 (maybe 9 – who knows) of the recipes I’m making are things I’ve never made before!!!  I’m most excited about the beer-brined turkey!!  I hope it turns out moist and tasty!

Poor Hunter – still in bed – he said all he wants to do is lay in bed.  Wish I could make him feel better!!!

Have a great Thanksgiving!!!   I hope everyone has someone special to share the day with!

NO!!!! Not the Flu!

Trying to be super productive today and still take care of Hunter!  Got the grocery store out of the way early and it wasn’t crowded at all!!! (I was shocked and happy!)

The 43 of the day was a crunch with feet stacked (heel-to-toe) – this one helps get into the lower abs, too!!!

Working Hard!

I did 43 with my right foot on top and then another 43 with my left foot on top.

and relax

After the crunches, I did a quick 4 miles (24:19) + 1 easy mile to complete my work-out.  Gotta keep moving for sure!

I’m super glad that we decided not to travel anywhere for Thanksgiving.  I’m afraid that Hunter might have the flu.   Poor boy – nasty cough, stuffy nose, headache and fever, not hungry…..Hopefully we can keep the germs contained just to him and not share!!!

Poor Boy!!!

Have a great Wednesday!  Stay well!!!
