Wacky Wednesday

Today I did 44 “chest, fly, bangers” with a hip raise.  Basically, I kept my hips up (the entire time) while doing a chest press, opening to a fly, bringing the weights back together and doing a head banger (triceps) before lowering the weights to repeat.

Once again, the video was after doing all of my 44  and my workout – my arms were shaking the entire time.  I used 10 pound weights which was plenty for the # I did.

I tried a new DVD today – Jillian Michaels – Hard Body.  Yikes!!!  I did Level 1 (there are 2 45 minute workouts) and it really pushed me today.  In fact (here’s something wacky), I actually did the modifications on a couple of the moves – not quite ready to go hard core I guess!!!

Hunter always has “Wacky Wednesday” at school – not really sure what is different from other days but I decided that today could use a bit of wacky!!!

And I’m really not even sure how I feel about this!!  I’ve seen the Prancercise video several times now and really can’t tell if she is being serious with this or if it is supposed to be a joke!

Rest assured – no form of prancercizing will ever be a daily 44!!!

I Am a Quitter

Today I had to pick a super easy 44 because there isn’t a part of me that doesn’t hurt.  I did a basic crunch (just like the ones Chris has been doing to get ready for his PT test).

Even those weren’t much fun but….I can’t quit on everything!!!

I will probably recap the race tomorrow but today I can’t.  I will say that my reasons (excuses, whatever you want to call them) for quitting still hold up even now that it is a sunny morning.

Today will be a quiet day with a whole lot of nothing – some Modern Family and plenty of water.

The Big Day is Finally Here!

Today for my 44 I did a simple move – reverse hip thrusters.

I didn’t get much height from my hips – sort-of in conserve mode.

By the time I do my next 44 and make my next post, I will have run 50 miles!!!

I just need to finish getting all of my gear together.

  • knuckle lights – so cool, can’t wait to run with them
  • head lamp – not as cool, probably gonna give me a killer bruise on my head
  • camelbacks x2 – added a 2nd one yesterday so that I can just switch out
  • Hershey bars
  • orange slices
  • a few bags of the energy jelly beans
  • DOTS – chewy candy
  • Gymboss timer – I’m going with the run/walk and don’t want to have to think about it or keep up with it and thanks to my timer I don’t have to
  • Sony headphone walkman
  • GPS – I’m not going to obsess over my pace but I want to know my exact time and distance
  • extra clothes – jackets, tights, rain ponchos, shorts, shirts, sports bras….
  • foam roller – for the 100 mile drive home after!
  • camera
  • phone
  • extra batteries

Sheesh – I should just go ahead and carry my laptop with all that other stuff.  Good thing I don’t have to carry it all with me – some will be with Chris for various stops.  

I would like to say that I will be tweeting while I’m out there but we all know I am the most lame twitter user ever.  Feel free to send me tweets if you find yourself awake in the middle of the night!!!

One final check of my stuff and then a bit of relaxing before we head out.

Scared, Nervous, Excited, Scared

Today’s 44 was a Pilates based move – the single leg stretch.  Just because the name of it has the word stretch, don’t think it wasn’t a challenge!!!

A right leg up and left leg up counted as 1 rep.  I tried to keep my toes pointed and my legs straight.  Keeping the bottom leg off the ground the entire time and my head and shoulders up made this a great core workout!!!

Screen shot 2013-10-10 at 9.20.51 PMThis week I’ve been slightly completely obsessing about my race this weekend.  Not gonna lie – I’m ready for it to be Monday and the race behind me (is that bad?)!!!

The emotions that I’ve felt this week have ranged from excitement to complete fear of failure!!!  

I think that the things I’m the most scared about are 

Screen shot 2013-10-10 at 9.25.31 PMDon’t get me wrong – I love a good rain storm but I do NOT want to run in rain all night long.  I think it is supposed to be a little on the cool side which I can handle as long as I’m not wet!  Remember – I’m a treadmill runner most of the time!!!

My other biggest fear is my stomach!  Running makes my stomach hurt a lot these days!!! Hopefully it won’t be a huge issue!

I would have liked to rest my legs a little more this week – I’m not sure that being on them from 6 am till 4 pm a couple of days (boot camp, cleaning, set-up, ironing…..) was the best plan but it’s what it is these days!!!

1.  Finish!!!
2.  Be the first female.
3.  Break 10 hours.

#1 is my main goal but I figure I might as well go big with my other goals!!!

I’m already planning to utilize a run/walk plan during the race – and, for the record, Jordan told me the other day – 

“It doesn’t count if you don’t run it all!!!”

Nice!!!  Then Chris said he could probably complete 50 miles, too  (on foot?!).  

Today I’m going to try and make sure that I have everything I need and hopefully get a good night’s sleep before my all-nighter (way to old to lose a night of sleep!!!).

A Man/Boy in Uniform

Today I worked my entire body with the 44.  I did a squat with a torso twist using a 10 pound dumbbell.

I did 44 with a left twist and then I did another set of 44 twisting to the right.

Between lifting my arms overhead after each twist and the squats themselves – this move was a challenge!!!

This year is the first year for the Air Force Junior ROTC program at our high school.

Jordan decided to be in the program which, of course, makes us happy!!!  Today was the first day that they have worn their uniforms.

Hard for me to think of Jordan as a man and not my little boy.  Yes, he is taller than Chris!!!  He will be 15 in a month – YIKES!!!

Thankfully, he still has plenty of boy left in him!!!

Some days it seems like my boys are growing up way to fast and then other days it seems just about perfect and they remind me that they are still boys!!!
