M100s Are NO Joke!!!

Today I purposefully tried to pick a fairly easy 43 because I knew what was coming!!!

The 43 was just an oblique crunch with opposite elbow to knee.  I counted 1 rep as a crunch to the right and a crunch to the left – technically 86 crunches!!!

After the 43 I moved on to the true challenge of the day.

This past summer my younger brother, Sam, and his family came to visit.  Sam introduced Hunter to the M100 (M100).  Hunter usually does an M30 because he is still strengthening his wrist that he broke the end of the summer.

The breakdown for an M100:

  • 10 burpees
  • 10 mountain climbers (4 equals 1 so 40 actually makes each 10)
  • 10 double squat jumps
  • Repeat 3x
  • 10 burpees
These are done quickly with no break in between. The following video gives more information and a demo.

Earlier this week, Hunter and I were talking about the M100 and I said I could do 5 in a row.  He said, “No way!!!”  Well, that is all I needed!! It was totally on from there!  I sent Sam a text and told him it was on for Saturday – he was a doubter, too.
So, earlier this morning….this took place:

(Skip at least the 1st minute – Chris is not familiar with my camera and he recorded in the wrong mode – no way was I doing the whole thing again though!!!) Actually the video is just plain bad but I put it in for proof for the doubters – Sam!!
5 M100s in 19:22!!!
Hunter now thinks I rock!!!
Have a great Saturday!!
It will be a great day here – Jordan is 14!!  Happy Birthday (see post under family).

Patience – I Need Some Right Now!!

Today’s 43 worked my chest and core – Yippee!!!

I did a single-arm chest press while balancing on a stability ball. To really get the most out of this move – I tried to keep my hips up and level the entire time.

Single Arm Chest Press

I like using the stability ball because I  get a better range of motion – my elbow can go further down than just laying on the floor.

Single Arm Chest Press

I did 43 on my right side and 43 on my left side using a 15 pound dumbbell for all reps.  I think the weight was heavy enough to offer plenty of challenge today!

The rest of my work-out was fun  – hooked up with  Chalean again.  I did Turbo Jam (Beach Body) Cardio Party Mix 3. This work-out is a blast and the 50 minutes flies by!!!  I know I look like a dork – especially at the end where she includes some funky dance moves – because my sense of rhythm got lost a LONG time ago.  I’m cool with being a total goof – still love the work-out!!!

WARNING: Whining ahead!

I’m really ready to figure out why my hip still hurts!!! This morning when I went downstairs to have Hunter take some pictures of my 43 he said, “Really limping today, Mom.”  I don’t know why – some days it’s  worse than others. :Tears:   I just want to be able to run and jump without pain or fear of doing further damage!  Trying to be patient with my hip and the doctors but sort-of completely over it!!

OK – enough of the negativity!!!  Have a super Thursday!

A Ginormous Thank-You to All Teachers!!!!!

First off, the 43 today was a plank with an alternate shoulder touch.

Plank – Alternate shoulder touch

I counted 1 rep as touching my right hand to my left shoulder and then my left hand to my right shoulder.  It ended up being quite a long time to hold plank – especially since most of the time was just on one arm.  I had to squeeze my butt really hard to keep from rocking when I picked up each arm.  I set myself up so that I could look over and see my reflection so I could occasionally check on my form.  Overall – a great 43!

The rest of my work-out was Chalean Extreme (Beach Body) Push Circuit 3.  (chest and back today)

I have to say that I think we should all take every opportunity we have to thank the teachers we know.  They work HARD!!!!  Yesterday I spent the day teaching 1st grade and I barely had time to pee (which wasn’t a huge deal since I didn’t have time to refill my water!).  I came home at the end of the day – right after I put all of my little friends on the bus – looking like this

Exhausted!!!

Truly, I was more tired at the end of the day yesterday than I was the other day after I ran 10 miles in just over an hour!!!  And…I didn’t even have to get the room ready for the next day, do lesson plans, grade papers……

So – THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE HARD-WORKING, DEDICATED TEACHERS!!! You are very much appreciated!

Happy Wednesday!

Karma

Because I had so much fun with my BOSU yesterday, I decided to use it again today for my 43!!! This time I tried balancing my butt on it – for boat pose.  First I looked like this

Trying to get it!

But after a couple more picture attempts I ended up like this

Boat Pose!!

(I don’t know why my eyes were closed in all of the pictures today – concentrating I guess.)

After I finally figured out how to balance on the BOSU, I did 43 boat poses (30 seconds each).  I thought this would be a great core exercise (and it was) but I also really felt this a lot in my hip flexors and  quads!  It ended up being a challenge and one of those days that I was very happy to say 43! (I usually count out loud so I don’t lose count – Hunter loves it since he is usually trying to read before school!!!)

I decided that I really wanted to run again today.  I figure if my hip hurts when I don’t run very much, it can’t be that much worse when I do run!!!

9 miles in 56:35 (1.5 incline)  + 2.75 miles at an easier pace with an incline up to 30%

So….over the weekend, Chris had a little crick or something in his neck and I might have made just a little bit of fun of him.  (You know – laughing because he had to turn  his whole body to look at me at the dinner table or something.)  Well, this morning I got up and for some reason my neck is all gimpy – KARMA!!!! Sorry for laughing, Chris!!

Time to get the elementary school newsletter done again!

Have a super Monday!!!!

BOSU and Balance – Hmmm….

I thought I knew what I was going to do for my 43 today but then this happened:

Balancing (or not)

I took off the band and tried again.

Help!!!!

Great –  if I were going for the  uncoordinated ballerina look!!!  So, I finally got my 43 done (the best I could).  It was just a “simple” side-leg abduction while balancing on the BOSU.  I think the balancing was what did me in!!!  I did manage to lift my leg, hold it a second then  squeeze my butt as I lowered it 43 times and then switch sides for 43 more but it was not even remotely pretty!

As Good as it Gets

At least the rest of my work-out wasn’t so goofy!  I did Chalean Extreme Burn Circuit 2.  (biceps, triceps and back).  It was hard today because my triceps were sore from yesterday’s side-moving push-ups! Love that sore feeling!!!

Have a great Sunday!!!
