Sometimes I really mess up!!! Thankfully, my boys are kind and willing to give me 2nd, 3rd and 1000th chances!!!
Monday I took Jordan to the DMV to get his restricted license (the one that will allow him to drive to school and work by himself!).
I was super excited to show up and find out the wait was going to be less than 15 minutes!!! A lot of times it is a couple hours!!!
The man at the front desk called Jordan over and asked him if he had his “gold” slip. I had no idea what he was talking about!!!
Last summer Jordan took Drivers Ed – the class, test and instructional driving hours. Apparently, at the end of the class he received a pink slip (that showed he took the class) and a gold slip (which showed he completed it).
Umm….we had to bring a piece of paper from a year ago?!
Fortunately, the guy told us we could go to the driving school and pay for another one!!!
I was not happy!!! We had to wait over 30 minutes just for someone to show up, pay, then go back to the DMV.
I told Jordan that he needed to do a better job keeping up with stuff. I also made him pay for the reissue slip since I paid for the course last year!!!
That evening I was telling Chris all about the morning – including the lecture I gave Jordan and the fact that I was impatient and he was pleasant the entire time.
Then, just out of curiosity, I looked at my desk. Guess what was in almost plain sight??????If you guessed the missing gold slip – the one that I blamed Jordan for not keeping up with – you would be correct!!!
I felt horrible!!!
I apologized to Jordan (and paid him back!!!). He was super nice about it and said it wasn’t a big deal and he didn’t mind the whole process anyway.
How did I get so lucky?!
Even today, 2 days later, I still feel bad. I learned a lesson from Jordan both in patience and forgiveness!!!
Please tell me that you’ve done something similar!!!
Happy Wednesday!
Kim
