Not Stuck, Working on Unstoppable

Back in February, after waffling around for awhile I finally signed up for Tara’s (FamilySportLife) workshop – Stuck to Unstoppable.

At the time, I thought that my main goal was to figure out how to get moving and start working on ways to make our venue the “best” venue in Topeka.Screen Shot 2015-04-05 at 8.22.41 PM

I went through the 6 week program and completed the workbook exercises, took part in the group calls (most of them) and really put my effort into the program.

At the same time I was still struggling with a lack of motivation and not really making much progress.

Then, one Saturday morning Tara was sweet and did a make-up call with a few of us.  The way it worked out, it was just her and I chatting (face-to-face) for almost an hour before Sara (who no longer blogs) was able to sit and join in.

During that time Tara helped me admit something that I probably already knew – running the venue is not my dream.

As an added bonus and (because Tara rocks!!!), she gave us each a 30 minute one-on-one session.

So, on a Tuesday night almost 2 weeks ago, Tara and I had our one-on-one session.  And, it was a huge eye opener for me!!!

While we were talking I realized that I don’t enjoy a lot of the tasks I have on my list day after day.  Mostly because those tasks are things I don’t have any clue how to really accomplish.

I finally was able to say (out loud!!) that I don’t really think I have to strive to be the best venue in Topeka – that is just my overly competitive nature talking.

EVERY TIME!!!
EVERY TIME!!!

I just want to do the best that I can do as a venue owner.  Which for me, is offering customer service that goes above and beyond what anyone would expect!

Screen Shot 2015-04-05 at 8.39.34 PMI love the interactions I have with all (most!) of our clients and want to do everything in my power to make their special day (birthday, wedding, anniversary, business meeting…..) the very best it can be.

I also love helping people when they call about an event – even if I’m already booked I will brainstorm other options with them.

I finally realized that by letting go of the “best” notion and just striving to give my ALL to each caller/client I have much less stress and enjoy my job more!

Letting go of so much stress has not only allowed me to enjoy what I do more but also to plan and dream!  And, I have some big plans and dreams -hopefully they will start to take place soon!!!

Have you ever worked with a coach?
Do you have big plans/dreams?

Happy Monday!!

Randomness

The other day Deb at Deb Runs tagged me to do a Random Fact Post – 10 Random Facts.   I asked for some input from Chris and the boys for my random facts because I sort of feel like I’ve shared a lot – they just sort of rolled their eyes – RUDE!!!

So, here are some random facts that you might not know about me.

1.  Even though most of the pictures I post on here are me in workout clothes, I actually wear “real” clothes most days, too.

2.  When I was growing up, my mom used to make me wear dresses/skirts only (no pants, jeans or shorts) – I hated it.  Now in the summer I prefer dresses!!!

3.  I refuse to buy green peas – even when the boys where babies it was one of the few baby foods they never had.  I hate everything about peas – the color, the smell, the texture and the taste!!!

4.  I don’t believe in throwing up!!!

5.  I am a minimalist with make-up – a little mascara and some lipstick and I’m set!!

6.  In college, I had long hair (which I kept spiraled permed) and I always pulled it back into a ponytail with a large bow.  In fact, I usually got special bows for big races (like Nationals)!!!

can you tell which one is me?

7.  After grad school I coached cross country and track at the same university I graduated from for 2 years.

8.  When I was about 24, I went on a college ski trip (it was one of the years I was coaching) and right before the trip one of the girls on the track team gave me hair extensions (it took about 8-9 hours).

I loved having extensions even though they only lasted a couple weeks

9.  I love my boys with every fiber of my being but my 2 favorite men will always be these 2 –

10.  My boys think that I ask them if they are OK way too often.

What is a random fact about you?

Happy Monday!!

2013 – Off to a Great Start!

Even though it was after 2am when we went to bed this morning, we were still up by 8 – crazy!!!  No need to sleep the day away I guess (although I think a nap might be on tap later today!).

For the 43 today, I went way back to my days as a college track coach – sprinter abs.  It is similar to a crunch:  keep your core contracted and move your feet and arms sort of like you are running.  (maybe the video will help – my brain is sort of mush today!!!)

I counted a right knee and left knee as 1 rep.  This was a quick 43 but I definitely felt it.

I’m still keeping up with the 12 Days of Fitness – today was day 7!

awesome new running outfit!!!

I wore my new running outfit for the first time today!!  MizFit running skirt and sports bra – super cute.  (I was getting frustrated with the picture taking – hard to get a shot that didn’t make my gut look disgusting!!!)

Because last night had a lot of this:

Tequila!!!
Tequila!!!

I needed a good work-out today.  Plus, I always start the New Year with a run!!!  4 weeks ago when the DR said no weight-bearing, blah……for 8 weeks I knew that would never work!  I also knew that I would run today – gotta sweat out the tequila start the New Year right!!

Chris said – how about 1 mile?  Really?!! I’ll just do 5.  I did run 5 miles (on the treadmill at 1.5 incline in 40 minutes) – I am out of shape!!!  It was awesome to run again – hopefully I don’t pay a high price in the next day or so!  (I’m sure it will be fine!)

We had a great time last night (into the early morning) bringing in the new year with friends!  I’m looking forward to a great year!  I truly want to enjoy every part of my life this year – the small, daily things as well as the big “high-light” events!!

Happy 2013 – I hope y’all are all off to a great start!!
