Did You Know….?

1.  Did you know – The fox doesn’t really say any of the things in that catchy song!!!  There is a red fox that roams our neighborhood and sometimes at night it gets on our back deck and garage roof.  It is LOUD!!!!  The first time I heard it I thought it was a baby crying or a cat fight.

It is a very creepy sound in the middle of the night right outside your bedroom!!!

2.  Did you know – it is virtually impossible to find reliable people for any type of service (at least here in Topeka).  We have struggled with plumbers, electricians, car maintenance – I don’t understand why people can’t just do their jobs and do them WELL!!!

3.  Did you know – Holidays often make me sad because we don’t have family to share the day(s) with.  Many times we do things with good friends instead which is always great.  I dropped the ball (basically was lazy) and we didn’t have any plans for Easter so we just hung out together.

4.  Did you know  – with all of the running I have done in 2015 I haven’t done as much strength training or other workouts and as a result I have put on some pounds that I don’t really want!!!

I think it’s time for some – Screen Shot 2015-04-09 at 8.12.53 PM

Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas?

Screen Shot 2014-12-07 at 8.34.50 PMHave yourself a merry little Christmas.

We wish you a merry Christmas!

When you think of some of the traditional songs, many of them use the word Christmas.

However, it seems like everywhere you go people are bothered by making sure they say the “correct” thing.  But…..what is correct???

I grew up saying “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.”

Over the past number of years I’ve found myself saying a mixture of “Merry Christmas” and “Happy Holidays” just because.  This year at our event venue we have had a mix of people booking Christmas parties/celebrations and holiday parties.

I don’t think that there has to be a “right or wrong” way to express this!!!

I know that many people think saying “Merry Christmas” is offensive to people who don’t celebrate Christmas but Ben Stein summed it up pretty well – it isn’t offensive, it isn’t a slight against another religion – it is just what it is.

We have been to Hanukkah with friends and loved learning how they celebrate!!!  I think it is great for our boys to see different things and parts of other religions.

I know that some people choose not to celebrate Christmas for reasons beyond religion.  I think that it is just like everything else in life – we should do what we do and respect what other people choose to do.

What do you say – Happy Holiday, Merry Christmas, or something completely different?

Screen Shot 2014-12-07 at 8.34.26 PMI will probably always say Merry Christmas and hope that it never offends anyone because that is not my intention!!!

Happy Monday!!
