Making it Happen (Early!!!!)

So today had to start at the butt crack of dawn since I’m subbing (2nd grade) all day and then doing some Algebra tutoring tonight with a couple of high school students.  For 5 years I got up at 4:30 every week-day to make sure I had time to work-out then…..I quit working!!!! Now I only have occasional early mornings and they feel really EARLY!!!!!

My 43 was a quick but fun move today.  It was  a triple jab to the right with a left cross then a triple jab back to the left with a right cross.  I stayed in a low position so that my quads/hams got in on the action.  To complete all 43 only took about 1 minute 25 seconds!!!

Hunter let me video this yesterday since I knew today would be sooooo early!

After the quick 43 I did Turbo Jam – Cardio Party 3.  Even at such an unreasonable hour Chalean makes me happy!!!!

Here are a couple pictures of last night’s entertainment – Jordan’s 8th grade band concert.

It is a very rare occasion for Jordan to not be wearing white Nike shorts and a white Nike T-shirt.  I love how handsome he looks here!!!

Gotta finish gearing up for the day – I’m a little nervous about 20+ 2nd graders for the whole day.  (Way back before kids I taught -Middle School not such young kids)  I’m sure it will be fine!

Enjoy your Tuesday!!!

Shakey, Shakey

Between the 43 for the day and my work-out, my arms are a shakey mess!!!   😀

For the 43, I did a twisting side plank.  I started in side plank and then twisted forward and down to work my obliques.  I felt it in my obliques, of course but also my supporting arm was shaking up a storm by the time I hit 43.

For this exercise, I did 43 on one side then switched sides and did 43 more.  I was overjoyed when I finished both sides!!

The rest of the work-out was Chalean Extreme Burn Circuit 3 – shoulders again!!!  For some reason, no matter how much I try, I can’t get past 15 pounds per side when I do shoulder presses.  I guess I will just keep on plugging away!

I’m fixing to get dinner in the crock-pot because I’m subbing 5th grade this afternoon and then Jordan has a band concert tonight so we will be on the go.

Enjoy your Monday!!!

Do y’all have an area that no matter how hard you train it doesn’t feel like you are seeing improvement?

“A bit of Advice” (from Hunter)

Today is a perfectly gorgeous day for late October in Kansas!!! I wanted to take advantage and do my 43 outside so I could enjoy it.  Since I’m not running right now I decided that  jumping rope would be a fun outdoor activity.  I’m not sure how fun it ended up 😉 but it was a really good work-out.

I did 43 jumps for each 1 of my 43 so 1,849 total jumps!!!! To keep track, I walked to the other end of the driveway in between each one – that way I was at the far end for the even numbers.  I tried to never stop for more than 15-20 seconds between each one.  It took approximately 30 minutes to do the 43.

Nice view, huh?

(I looked like I was being tortured in all the pictures that showed my face!)

Hunter came out while I was jumping and said, “Um…some advice.  You don’t have to jump so high.  It’s easier if you barely lift your feet.”  Thanks, Hunter!!!  2 things: If I barely lift my feet, I get tangled. Also, I’m not trying to make it easy!!!  The funny thing is, he didn’t get a jump rope and join in or even demonstrate after his words of wisdom.  Silly boy!

Tools & Tally Marks

I had to make tally marks after each 10 so that I wouldn’t lose count – didn’t want to cheat and not do 43 but I also didn’t want to do too many!!!

Now I’m off to enjoy this great day!

Peace!!!

Happy Sunday!!

Goodbye Summer

Today was the final boat ride of the year.

Chris and I spent some time out on the water this afternoon (the boys opted out).  So peaceful!!!  Saw our neighbor out enjoying the day:

Chris did a great job doing all of the hard parts – driving the boat onto the trailer all the other stuff that goes along with this sort of thing.  I just sort-of hung out and watched the show!

Driving to the Trailer – Nice Job!!!

After we (and by we, I mean Chris) successfully got the boat onto the trailer

Pulling the Boat out for the Year

we took it home and convinced the boys that it would be fun to help clean the boat.  Chris pressured washed the bottom (it was NASTY – green and slimy) and we (mostly the boys) cleaned out the inside.

A great way to spend a Saturday afternoon – on the water and with my family!!

Now time to order the pizza and have some wine and watch the Longhorns play some football!!!

Old School

Today my 43 was an old school original – with a small update.

Bench Press!!!  A tried and true classic.  The only thing I did to make it a little more challenging is I used a stability ball instead of a bench.  I lowered the bar on a 2-count and raised it on a 2-count to try and make the move as effective as possible.

Bench on Ball
(don’t worry: work-out skirt has shorts!!!)

I had 15 pounds on each side and my bar is right at 5 pounds so I benched 35 pounds 43 times.  The first 10-15 I was thinking I really should have gone heavier.  By the last 10-15 I was happy with my choice!

(calm down: work-out skirt has built in shorts!!!)

My 43 is the only work-out I’m doing today.  Gotta have a rest day every now and then.  I really wanted to run but I’m not supposed to for at least the weekend so I will just give myself a little break.

Have a super Saturday!!!
