The 44 today might sound easy but…..It was a falling push-up. You do the move from your knees and fall forward into a triceps push-up. Then push back to the starting position.
I tried not to round my back so much on the push-up part but not very successfully!
After a couple days break, it was another day of Insanity the Asylum vol.2. Today was X-Trainer. This is the one with a solid 4 minutes of push-ups and plank holds – super fun!! I actually like this workout quite a bit because it is 50 minutes of everything – speed, agility, strength – and every single muscle is involved!!!
Did you know that Wednesday it will be just 2 weeks until Christmas?
Guess how much of my Christmas shopping I have done?!
Actually, other than decorating, I haven’t done a single thing to plan for Christmas!!! Usually we have our family picture done, our cards printed and our newsletter ready to go by now. I think we are going to cheat on the family picture and use one from this summer –
this picture makes my heart happy!!!
Oh – summer time memories!!!
Jordan had an English project to do over the weekend and he was actually very excited to work on it. He had to make a movie trailer for The Odyssey.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2afvGzoLCU
It is really good – I should get Jordan to help me jazz up my videos!!! I don’t know how he knows how to do all of that stuff!
Enough rambling – time to get on with this Monday!
Are you ready for Christmas or do you feel behind like me?
Today I did a push-up (with a bonus) for my 44. After each push-up I lifted an arm & leg – I alternated the lifts and counted reps by the number of push-ups.
The video is actually my final 4 reps – I was struggling a bit to keep my body level by this point.
Happy Birthday #15!
15 years ago we went from being a married couple to a family of 3. Even though we had almost 9 months to prepare for his arrival, I had no idea what to expect and I was a nervous wreck!!!
In just a few minutes (hours actually) our lives changed forever in the very best way possible!!
I was beyond scared when we left the hospital but thankfully, Jordan was a very easy baby and kind to his newbie parents.
Everyday was a new experience and every year has gotten better and better.
15 years ago my life was enriched in every way possible and every day I feel truly blessed that Jordan calls me MOM!!!
Happy Birthday, Jordan!!!

I know – lots of pictures but I’m proud of the young man that Jordan is becoming!!! And, it makes me happy to look back through random pictures and see that he is almost always smiling!!!
Today’s 44 was another push-up variation and it was hard!!! I used –
Step Stability Ball
To do the push-ups, I put my toes on the step and my hands on either side of the ball.
Ready
Just getting in this position was hard – I don’t think you can tell but my arms were shaking!!! From here, I just did normal push-ups.
down
I couldn’t get my chest all the way to the ball without killing myself so I went as low as I could. Using the stability ball for push-ups is always super hard for me!
It’s no secret that I like to workout and try new moves! Today I thought I would share
Push-ups: As few as 5 years ago, the only way I even attempted push-ups was on my knees. Quite honestly, I never even considered trying them any other way. Now I like to try all sorts of push-up variations. Here are just a few:
toes on medicine ballAlt. sides of the BOSU – walk over in betweentricep push-ups (one of my weakest)stability ball
incline push-ups
Squats: Squats have always been one of my favorites!! I used to do 100s of squats at a time way back in my 20s!!! There are so many ways to do squats but I’m just picking a few today!
sissy squatsStart on ball – lift, hover, hold before lowering back downdumbbell squats
single leg squats – right toe is barely touching floor
Burpees: Burpees are one of those moves that many people hate. This is another move I used to dread. There was a time not many years ago that when I did workout DVDs and burpees were included, I used that time as a water break!!! Now, I have all kinds of fun with this move!!!
I could actually go on and on with my list of favorite exercises because I like to work every part of my body and there are really only a few moves that I still don’t like – JUMPING LUNGES!!!
What are some of your favorite exercises? Do you like to do different variations?
Today’s 44 was HARD!!! Thanks to Nellie (Brooklyn Active Mama) I did a move that is one of my least favorite because I’ve never truly mastered it – Triceps Push-ups! I don’t know why I’ve always struggled so much with this move but I have and do!!!
readydown
So, I only did about half of my 44 on my toes – the rest were on my knees.

I also taught Garage Boot Camp – one of my last workoust for a few days!!! (Don’t panic!!! I will still be doing my daily 44s!!!) Today we did Band Bootcamp.
FYI – the following is meant to be a humorous approach it is not a self put-down in any way – just the thoughts rushing through my head!!!
I’m pretty sure that many of y’all can totally relate to this feeling! I feel like I just flit from 1 thing to another and even though I do lots of things I don’t think I’m doing anything super well!!!
Here are some of the main categories of things I attempt:
Runner/Athlete – I think the fact that this happens first thing every day helps. I get up early for the sole purpose of doing my workout so I know that it will always happen.
Boot Camp Instructor – I feel like this summer I did a much better job here. This fall I’m only doing class 2x a week and I don’t always feel like I do a great job. I have a new workout typed up but I haven’t done a trial run so I don’t feel ready to teach it. Glad I did so many new workouts during the summer.
Math Tutor – Adequate as long as it is in the morning which, ummm, most kids are in school then so not really a great plan. By evening I’m spent (and like to have a glass of wine!).
Blogging – Well, I do it every day – does that count for anything?!
Friend – Epic fail here!!! I have done a poor job being a true friend lately!!! Need to make more effort to do some get-togethers!!!
Cook – I love to cook. BUT – I have to do a better job planning stuff out on the weekends. This week, I’ve done pretty good – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday – 3 days, 3 meals, 3 new recipes!!!! But that isn’t the norm!
PTO Co-President (at the middle school) – What on earth was I thinking agreeing to this?! I have done an abysmal job so far – gotta step up this one!!!
Clean – House – NOPE!!!! (been awhile) Business – YES (1-2x per week)
Business Chores – Clean – yes (see above) – prior to every event – got this down to a science!!! Iron – UGH!!! Yes, 3 hours worth for every single event!!! Network – NO – when?! Accounting – Not so great – gotta get caught up!!! Yard work – Pulled weeds once!! But, remember the new tenant wants to do this!!! Furniture moving/set-up – YEP – all the time!!! Chairs are great for bicep curls!!! Showings/Follow-up – Showings on demand. Follow-up – What?! Landlord – Well, I rented out one apartment and some how offended one of our other tenants because I made her pay the rent for the 2nd month in a row – nice!!!
Mom – OY – epic fail here!!!
Remember a few weeks ago when I forgot to pick Hunter up after school?
Last night, Jordan had a big Band Festival at the local college. Ummm…I did not go. I could/should have but our band was going to play for about 15 minutes out of the 3+ hour festival. I figure there will be pictures (and maybe even videos) on soon compliments of the parents who went and supported the kids!!!
Wife – I think that I saw Chris for a few minutes last night. We have plans for a “date day” Friday (after I workout, blog, tutor….) – sadly, most of the day will be geared toward gathering everything I need for the weekend.
Ummm….I am a bit Type A and I think that I have a few perfectionism tendencies – maybe I need to relax and “go with the flow” a little more!!!
How do you complete the phrase? Jack of _____________, Master of ______________.
Happy Thursday!!! I’m off to work on my cleaning (venue), furniture moving and ironing skills!!!
Today’s 43 was one of those that I knew was going to be hard from the first rep!!! I used a step (8″) and did an incline push-up then bear crawled over it and did a decline push-up and bear crawled back to the start.
As a side note – my shirt/short combo are making my butt look exceptionally big today!!! Nice!
Today was a hot, muggy Garage Boot Camp – these 100+ days are keeping it hot all night and into the morning!! We did a repeat workout from last week – the 25 in 1 workout. This is a series of 8 moves, 1 minute to get 25 reps of each. Some of the moves it is easy to get 25 and have a little breather but I set it up so that the last 4 are pretty much straight through!!! We completed 4 rounds so we got 100 reps of each move:
squat jacks
plank jacks
jumping lunges
push-ups
front kick right/back kick left (front/back = 1)
toe touch sit-ups
front kick left/back kick right
hurpees (burpees without a push-up)
This is a fun way to work your entire body and keep your heart rate up!
So, I was planning to do a fun post about all of the great bloggers I’ve met this year but since I was a bum last night and this morning I’m rushing to hit publish, I’m going to save it for later this week!!!
Instead I just have some random thoughts today!!
I finally uploaded some of the band picture from Friday night –
marching
It was so nice that Jordan was on the end – made it easier to get a few pictures!!!
Tonight, Hunter has his 2nd practice for the Youth Philharmonic!!! I’m going to try to make sure that he isn’t late this week. Last week, I didn’t allow enough time and he was a few minutes late – on the way inside he said, “I don’t want to draw attention to myself.” Umm….have you seen yourself?
pretty sure the yellow stands out
Since he wears highlighter yellow almost every day he sort of stands out in a crowd – silly boy!!!
My dining room table is finally cleared off – yesterday’s top project was to get the clutter under control!!!
This morning is hair day – I think I’m ready for another change just not sure what I want to do!!!
And – this afternoon is looking really good for………..
