Today’s 44 was fairly simple! I did a move called hollow rocks – a move to work the abs. You make a ball (rock) and stay in that position for the entire move.
I enjoyed this move because it felt great on my back, too.
Today Stacy and I bundled up for the 3rd time this week and ran outside.
Today was 16 miles – DONE and DONE!!!
After we got past mile 14, Stacy was in new territory – a record run for her!!!
Thankfully we are experiencing a heat wave and the temperature started at 32 (now it’s all the way up to 43!!!).
These past few days have shown me that running in the cold is possible but not really my favorite!!!
WAY TO GO, STACY – 16 MILES!!!!!
YOU’RE A ROCK STAR!!
Today for my 44 I did a halo to curtsy lunge – this is another one of those moves that work most of the body!!!
I counted a right and left side as 1 rep – even though I only used 5 pound dumbbells, my upper body got some serious work to complete 44.
Stacy and I are fixing to do a cross-fit style workout – I think she is going kill me!! That’s OK – we are headed out to run after!
Rockin’ the Runner T!!!
My sister-in-law is training for her first marathon so I’m going to log her miles with her while they are here – OUTSIDE!!! The current temp is 17 so I guess I will have to employ my Suck it Up in a big way!!! Her plan is 8 today, 4 tomorrow, 8 Friday and 16 Saturday (that will be her longest run!!).
We have lived here (Kansas) for over 14 years. It is a long drive for any of my family to come up from Texas (especially since Topeka isn’t really a major tourist attraction!). Over the years, we haven’t had a lot of family visitors but Sam (my younger brother) and Stacy come almost every year!!!!
They have been here on Easter (it happened to also be Hunter’s 6th birthday), summer vacation, 4th of July and numerous Thanksgivings!!!
I truly am thankful for Sam, Stacy, Isabel and Hays who got to our house about 10:00 last night (after a very long day of driving for them!!). They will be here until Sunday morning and I plan to enjoy every minute of their time with us!!!
Stacy and I will run and workout then shop and enjoy our wine. Hays can’t wait to play ball and cars with the “big boys!” Isabel is looking forward to our annual “girls night” – special drinks and a movie without any boys invited! There will be plenty of food (already have gumbo going for lunch in my crockpot and an egg casserole ready to put in the oven for breakfast!).
So, for the next few days I plan to do my daily 44s and I will probably still do a post but the rest of the time will be off the computer enjoying time with my family!!!
Today I did another one of Allie’s moves from her Trifecta Arm video – she called this one “pick up the baby.” I called it HARD!!!!
Start in a plank with dumbbells (I used 10 pounds) – step right foot in, stand and lunge with a bicep curl – step right foot back to plank – repeat on left side = 1 rep.
44 of these and I nearly called my workout for the day done!!! (just kidding – sort of!)
I did Jillian Michaels Hard Body – Level 2. Umm….this was the first time I’ve done this part and it was a great workout! Lots of plyo moves with weights, some balance challenges and some core work – awesome!!!
I decided to get in a quick run – last week I had a great week of long and slow but every once in awhile I like to push my speed a little. I did 4 miles at 1.5% incline in 24:27 then 0.6 miles easy to cool down.
Today is deep clean day – baseboards, corners, under furniture – I can hardly wait!!! (well, that might be exaggerating a bit!!)
But, it’s for a good cause –
family
Some of my favorite people are coming later this week to spend Thanksgiving with us!!! And that is something I truly am excited about!!!
And then I can turn my super clean house into a Christmas wonderland!!! I’ve made myself hold off on decorating this year until after Thanksgiving and I feel like I’m missing out on trees and lights but it will be worth it soon!!!
I love having Christmas decorations all over the house!!! Christmas trees in every room and Santas galore – it is awesome!!!
Have you decorated for Christmas or do you wait until after Thanksgiving?
Today’s 44 was one of those that seemed like a great idea until I did about 10 – then it was just HARD!!! I used a stability ball and got into the plank position (feet on ball). Then I alternated bringing my knee to my elbow (a right and left was 1 rep).
The last 20ish were rough – I had a hard time staying in plank because the ball kept rolling around (maybe I wasn’t holding my core tight enough)!!! Fun times!!!
This week I’ve actually been doing a little experiment with my running – and it has been great!!!
3 mornings – Monday, Wednesday and Friday – after my first workout and getting the boys to school I have hopped on the treadmill to log some miles. I have forced myself to slow my pace so that I can increase my mileage.
I’ve mentioned many times that I can’t run every day anymore because of the many injuries (mostly stress fractures) that I’ve had over the past few years. Chris always says that the problem isn’t just running but that I tend to run too hard.
So, this week, I just ran!
Monday – 12 miles
Wednesday – 10.5 miles
Friday – 16.5 miles
Week total – 39 miles!!
I think that running on semi-tired legs is going to help me later (if I decide to try another ultra!!!).
The best part about my experiment?! My legs were a bit sore after each run (part of why I’ve forced myself to stretch this week!) but I completed all of my runs without any pain!!!!
Maybe Chris has been right all along – just don’t tell him!!!
For my 44 today I did a bicep curl (with 10 pound dumbbells – plenty for this many reps!) while staying in a squat position for all 44. My quads were burning!!!
Squat and hold
curl – stay in squat
Nice sweaty pictures since they were after my workout. I ran today because it will probably be the only day this week that I can run. I did 10 miles with the treadmill at 1.5% incline (73:27) + 2 easy miles to cool down.
Veteran’s Day is to celebrate the service of all of the US military – past and present!
The red remembrance poppy has become a familiar emblem of Remembrance Day due to the poem “In Flanders Fields“. These poppies bloomed across some of the worst battlefields of Flanders in World War I, their brilliant red colour an appropriate symbol for the blood spilled in the war.
This day marks the anniversary of the end of World War I – the major hostilities were formally ended at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918.
I think that now more than ever it is important to show support for all of the military men and women who willingly serve their country in ways that many people would never dream of doing.
Since Chris is in the military, we have lots of friends who are Veterans but I have 3 people that are the most special Veterans in my life.
Chris who is still serving our country –
Blues – the official uniform (usually he wears his flight suit)
My Dad who spent most of his career in the US Air Force. (pretty sad that I don’t have any pictures!)
And, my Poppa who served in the US Navy during World War II –
on his 90th birthday (tomorrow he would have turned 99)
Happy Veteran’s Day to all of the many Veterans and THANK YOU for all you do!!!
